What are Antioxidants?
Antioxidants help fight against free radicals in the body. Free radicals can be dangerous to our cells as they damage the cellular structures and cause them to become unstable. Antioxidants can play a role in reducing the cell damage of free radicals which in turn reduces the body’s chances of developing modern day degenerative diseases.
Free radicals are a natural occurrence through metabolism however extra and unnecessary free radicals can be put in our bodies by external factors such as pollutions, smoke, burnt foods, deep fried fats and cooked foods. This is why the body needs antioxidants in the form of superfoods or supplements, to build up the immune system to fight off the free radicals.
Antioxidants can slow some of the physical signs of aging by minimising wrinkles and preserving the skins natural glow. They can also protect the skin from sun damage.
